Have I mentioned before how much I hate the new PGA Tour wraparound season? It’s just stupid. First off, I could have sworn the new season started back in October with the Fry’s.com Open. Funny thing, we haven’t had a meaningful tournament since the Mayakoba in mid-November. And by meaningful, I mean something that counts towards PGA Tour Fed Ex Cup points. So for six weeks, we’ve had to watch the same “silly season” events we see every year.
Memo to PGA Tour Brass:
Either cancel the worthless events such as the Wendy’s 3-Tour Challenge and Shark Shootout and play real events or just start the PGA Tour season at the beginning of each New Year. Or, better yet, figure out a way to get your best players to play in the United States instead of traveling to Australia and Asia during November and December.
Anyways, enough of the bitching, nobody cares what I think. Let’s get to the Fantasy Picks for the Hyundai Tournament of Champions event at Kapalua. If you’d like to follow my team on PGATour.com, you can find me near the bottom of the standings in 6,247th place with a total of 554 points so far.
Dustin Johnson
Dustin is the defending champion and he hits the ball a long way – two things he has on his side this week at the Plantation Course. I expect Dustin to be close to the top by Sunday.
Webb Simpson
Webb might be a bit rusty coming off a long break. He has lots of experience at Kapalua so you would think he’d be near the top.
Zach Johnson
Zach won a few weeks ago at the World Challenge after taking out Tiger Woods in a playoff. If he can continue his great play, expect Zach to be near the top even though he may not hit it as far as some of the other players.
Jordan Speith
I am predicting Jordan will win multiple times this year on PGA Tour. What a great start to the season if he can pick up a win in his first visit to Kapalua.
