Before we get going here talking about my nine most memorable golf moments in 2015 so far, I want you to know that yes, I do understand the actual golf season starts in October. But just to remind everyone, I hate the PGA Tour wraparound season, so I still consider it a calendar year golf year. So with that being said, half the year is in the books and it's been one hell of a golf season so far! Since January, when the Hyundai Tournament of Champions kicked off the 2015 golf year, we've … [Read more...]

15 Final Thoughts on the 2015 U.S. Open at Chambers Bay
Twenty-two hours ago, the leaders were making their way to the back 9 at the 2015 U.S. Open at Chambers Bay. I was sitting in the same spot on the couch as I am now, and as the next two exciting hours unfolded, one of the best golf tournaments would unfold in fantastic fashion. Jordan Spieth would hit his second shot on the 72nd hole to the center of the green and make birdie to take a one shot lead. Just one group behind, Dustin Johnson needed to make birdie to force a Monday playoff. It … [Read more...]

2015 Masters Recap: Jordan Spieth Wins in Dominating Fashion
I don't know about you, but when I was 21 years old, all I cared about was which bar had the best happy hour specials and how many ladies were going to be there. I certainly wasn't flushing long-irons into Augusta National par-5's and draining clutch par putts to hold onto a lead at The Masters. What Jordan Spieth did over the last four days at The Masters was truly something special. At 21 years old, he becomes the second youngest player in Masters history to add a Green Jacket to his … [Read more...]
The Masters is Upon Us and It’s Going to Be a Good Weekend
It's one of the best weekends of golf throughout the entire year, if not THE best. The best players in the world will be teeing it up tomorrow morning in the 79th edition of The Masters. There's just too many storylines to hit on them all, so here's the couple that come to mind real quick: Tiger Woods is making his first start since his WD at Torrey Pines after just 11 holes. He showed up to Augusta smiling and jamming out on the chipping green on Monday. Since then, he's hugged … [Read more...]
Valero Texas Open Announces Big Name Player Commitments
The Valero Texas Open is just about a month away and already some big name players have committed to teeing it up in my hometown this year. First, Phil Mickelson has decided to give TPC San Antonio another chance after pulling a muscle last year and withdrawing from the tournament in the third round. I've lost a lot of respect of Phil over the course of 2014. He didn't play very well throughout the year and his bad season was capped off with a horrible Ryder Cup experience where he let the … [Read more...]
The Five Pairings I Hope to See for Team USA
The Ryder Cup is less than two days away and we'll get our first set of pairings on Thursday. There's so much speculation out there on who should be paired together. I think there's at least one players who is tough to pair with - Patrick Reed. I'm going to be watching him closely this weekend to see how he plays. He's a very streaky player and I think we'll see how the pressure gets to him, but I think I have found someone to pair him with. Here are five potential pairings I hope to see … [Read more...]
Chip-In’s & Chunks: Bubba Wins Green Jacket and Big Names Miss Cut
Chip-In’s & Chunks is all about the good and bad in the game of golf from the past week. Do you have something to add? Let us know on Twitter @Front9Back9 , Facebook or Google+. Chip-In's (the good) Bubba Watson Wins His Second Green Jacket I have to admit I was the first to say I didn't think Bubba had it in him. I mean, he hasn't done anything since 2012 when he won his first major championship and I thought no way in hell he would ever do it again. I was wrong. Everything came … [Read more...]
Is There a Better Sunday in all of Golf?
Ah yes. Sunday at The Masters. Is there a better Sunday in all of golf? The azaleas are in full bloom, the golf course is perfect, and CBS Sports has somehow figured a way to put a microphone on the birds. There's currently only 13 players under-par going into the final round. All these guys are within 5-shots of the lead, which means anything can happen today and the green jacket is up for grabs to anyone who wants to shoot a good round today. Leading the way is Jordan Spieth and … [Read more...]
Front9Back9 Golf Picks: Valero Texas Open
I am going with sort-of a Texas flare this week with my golf picks. Why? Well because I'm from Texas and live here in San Antonio where the Valero Texas Open is teeing off tomorrow. My PGA Tour Fantasy Game standings are pretty abysmal so far this year. I have a total of 3,824 points with the leader sitting at 7,131. Ouch! That puts me in 2,811th place overall which sucks. This week I am turning the tables though. As I mentioned above my picks are all Texas proud and if my four players … [Read more...]
Tiger Who? Jordan Spieth Shows Tiger What’s Up at Torrey
Tiger Woods is going for a record 9th tournament win at Torrey Pines this week. His playing partner on the other hand, is trying for only his second PGA Tour victory. While the two are years apart in wins and age, apparently playing alongside the number one player in the world doesn't phase Jordan Spieth. Playing the much easier North Course at Torrey Pines, Spieth came out and blisterd the course firing a 9-under 63 to take a one shot lead at the Farmers Insurance Open. Tiger Woods … [Read more...]
Front9Back9’s Golf Picks: Hyundai Tournament of Champions
Have I mentioned before how much I hate the new PGA Tour wraparound season? It’s just stupid. First off, I could have sworn the new season started back in October with the Fry’s.com Open. Funny thing, we haven’t had a meaningful tournament since the Mayakoba in mid-November. And by meaningful, I mean something that counts towards PGA Tour Fed Ex Cup points. So for six weeks, we’ve had to watch the same “silly season” events we see every year. Memo to PGA Tour Brass: Either cancel the … [Read more...]

Now that I have officially gone 0-4 in making the playoffs in my fantasy football leagues, it's time to start focusing on my 2014 PGA Tour fantasy golf picks. I started back in October with the FRYS.com Open and I smashed it 350 yards down the … [Read more...]
