Well, it’s 11:22 AM CST right now. Phil Mickelson is finished for the day and Tiger Woods is already on his way back to Orlando. Rory McIlroy is putting together a good round but ESPN doesn’t seem to care about that. Some guy by the name of Louis Oosthuizen is striping every drive down the middle and increasing his lead with every swing, now sitting at a comfortable 8-shots. Paul Casey is going backwards. Lee Westwood is not making a run and Martin Kaymer is just a couple under on his round.
What a boring major!! Paul Azinger just made a great comment. When he was Ryder Cup captain back in 2008, he did personality research on some of the players in the top 10 on the leaderboard right now. And he basically said the tournament really seems to be going along exactly like their personalities, laid back and calm….Which in reality means boring and flat.
Not that I want to see a major meltdown like Dustin Johnson in the U.S. Open, but I want to see some excitement. The sun is out and it’s dry. The wind is blowing a bit and in his post round interview Tiger said the flags positions were pretty easy. So why is nobody making a run and just giving the tournament to Louis?
I don’t know if I can take this anymore and I may need to leave and get out of the house. Don’t get me wrong it’s a great story for Louis Oosthuizen if he holds on to win. But I mean put together a string of bogeys or something and hit it in the fescue a few times to peak my interest. All I am asking for is just dropping a few strokes and someone else put up a few birdies to make 15-18 a little more interesting.
Oh well. We will see if I hand around to watch the ending. It just seems like everyone is just playing for second.
[…] like I wrote yesterday, the final round of the Open Championship was an absolute bore fest. A great story, but a bore […]
