Just like I wrote yesterday, the final round of the Open Championship was an absolute bore fest. A great story, but a bore fest no less. ESPN received a preliminary rating of 2.1 for the Sunday final round, compared to a 3.8 last year.
And guess what… You didn’t see this headline of ESPN’s website. I know. Of course they are not going to put it on their own website. I just don’t care for ESPN that much for a variety of reasons.
Tiger Woods was out of it early and Phil Mickelson did nothing to help the ratings either. So the only thing you had left was Louis Oosthuizen dominating the entire round and nobody else making any sort of run.
Guess golf does really need Tiger Woods playing at the highest level to stay relevant. I hope he gets it back soon.
