Wednesday and Thursday of this past week it rained 4 ½ inches at my house. Look, San Antonio needs the rain; it’s great for the golf courses. Problem is, I was off those two days from work and had big plans to play some golf.
I think you’re going to like what I chose to do instead. I busted out my Range to Go and set up a sheet in the garage and hit some 6-irons into the sheet off the fair way lie. You see, the Range to Go is a pretty cool portable driving range that has three different hitting surfaces; tee, rough and fairway.
I have to admit, I was pretty hesitant hitting golf balls in my garage, but only because I was afraid the ball was going through the sheet and into my garage windows. So I stuck to the 6-iron instead of ripping driver. By late Thursday, the rain had fully stopped, but it was still too wet to try and get out to the course. So I took the Range to Go out in the back yard instead and hit about 50 chips from the rough surface and it worked like a charm.
As I mentioned above, what’s so cool about the Range to Go is it’s three different playing. All three surfaces are truly distinct and are constructed of high grade synthetic turf. It’s weather resistant so I could have actually gone in the back yard in the downpour last week and it would have held up just fine.
It also comes with a handy carrying case, which you can fold up the turf and take with you wherever you go. The carrying case is probably the size of a messenger bag and comes with a nice handle to easily take with you.
You can purchase the Range to Go at RangeToGo.com for $99 for a limited time. The MSRP is $129 so you save about $30 right now. It really is a cool product and I can imagine taking it to family picnics, the office, backyard BBQ’s and set it up to challenge your friends at a chipping contest.
I’m going to work on strengthening up that sheet in the garage, and maybe perhaps get a net instead so I can rip drivers in any weather.
