The Golf Channel is a big part of my TV watching duties, and I think they have done a pretty decent job in making “reality” type shows over the last few years. The Big Break series, The Haney Project and a few others are all on my DVR list. Now comes another interesting story which I will be sure to tune in to. “Pipe Dream” is a new series featuring a golf pro by the name of Mark Burk, who at age 53 is trying to get his life back on track, and in the meantime get his golf game back along with his good name.
Mark was a tournament caliber player, winning tournaments all over the world and coaching well name celebrities, and found himself living on the streets and sleeping in construction pipes in Palm Springs, California. In 2008, Burk was accused of domestic violence by his supermodel girlfriend at the time, and the accusation left him homeless and out of money.
The 10-part series is going to feature his life on the streets, and his journey back to golf. The series premieres on January 11, 2011 at 9:30 ET. Should be a good series. The only problem, The Golf Channel will now have thousands of people knocking on their doors to showcase their own bad luck.
