The final World Golf Rankings for 2009 were released today and there was really no surprise in the top 30. There were no changes compared to last week’s rankings until you get to #38 and 39 where Graeme McDowell and Francesco Molinari swapped places.
The United States has five of the top ten players in the world with Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson, and Steve Stricker ranking #1-3 respectively. Jim Furyk ends the year at #6 and Kenny Perry rounds out the top ten ranked #10.
Just looking at the list there are two players I enjoy watching personally and hope they move up in the rankings in 2010. Sean O’Hair is currently #15 in the world and I really think he will move into the top ten this coming year. I also hope Hunter Mahan can move up from # 29 right now and maybe into the top 20 or even lower. 2010 is a Ryder Cup year and I believe these two players will both make the team for sure.
It will be interesting to watch the rankings all year and if this blog is still around in one year, we will compare what we have now and then. In the meantime each week I will update the rankings as we go throughout the year.
