Yikes!
After three days of match play in Arizona, my golf picks for the WGC Match Play are proving to be somewhat of a disaster. With the NCAA Tournament only a couple weeks away, I need to sharpen my skills quickly.
On Tuesday, I had predicted to see the following four matches in the quarterfinals:
Bobby Jones Bracket: Brandt Snedeker vs. Graeme DeLaet
Ben Hogan Bracket: Lee Westwood vs. Jimmy Walker
Gary Player Bracket: Luke Donald vs. Jordan Spieth
Sam Snead Bracket: Hunter Mahan vs. Dustin Johnson
In all actuality, the only person who has actually made it to the quarterfinals from my above picks is Jordan Spieth. My champion pick, Dustin Johnson, was booted out in the first round.
Should be a good weekend of golf, although I am already preparing myself for two golf shots for every ten commercials during TV coverage. Jim Furyk is taking on Rickie Fowler and Ernie Els will be playing Jordan Spieth so let’s see if these two grizzled veterans can show these youngsters what’s up.
If it matters, I think I will be rooting for Jason Day to take this thing. He’s Australian and I am 1/4 Australian, so I always have to root for my fellow countrymen. He’s taking on Coetzee today and I think he will easily win this match.
