Have you ever played 36 holes of golf in one day? If so, then you know how draining a full day on the golf course could be. But how do you think you will feel after playing 100 holes of golf in one day? Yes, I said 100 holes of golf. Well a man from Pennsylvania recently completed 100 holes of golf in a little under 13 hours. And the reason he played this many holes? Charity.
Doug Oathout completed 100 holes at Crab Apple Ridge Golf Course in Erie, PA. He hit his first tee shot at 6:30 A.M. and made his last putt for bogey around 7:15 P.M. He completed 5 full rounds with 10 extra holes. His score you ask. 86, 88, 83, 85 and another 86. Pretty good and consistent if you ask me. Oathout said he did a few months of core training and the weeks leading up to this marathon he swung a golf club 250-500 times per day. He says he missed three opportunities at eagles and several more birdie chances but says he only had one snowman the entire day.
I don’t know if I could do something like this in the San Antonio heat in the middle of the summer. Although I would sure the hell like to try someday. There is no way I could get this done on a weekend. It would have to get done during a weekday I think. This is still pretty cool and something every golfer would love to try I am sure.
Either way, Congrats to Mr. Oathout and I am sure his charity of choice appreciated the donation.
