A little over a month after Michelle Wie signed a new sponsorship deal with car company Kia, she has just landed another deal with a corporate giant. McDonald’s has signed Wie to a two year endorsement deal and from looks of the deal, she will be the new face for McDonald’s in the U.S. Asian market. The sponsorship deal was announced recently during the filming of a commercial featuring Wie and some friends as they come off the golf course and celebrate at McDonalds.
The ad campaign is being released in five languages: Chinese (Mandarin and Cantonese), Korean, Taglish and English. The target consumer is the young U.S. Asian market in which Wie could be the perfect fit to reach out to that market. It will be interesting to see if McDonalds continues with the partnership after the two years is up. The campaign was scheduled to launch April 20 so it will be interesting to see if this new commercial shows up during any LPGA golf events or where exactly this commercial will show up.
Good for Michelle. She has struggled tremendously with her golf game over the last five or so years but it seems maybe the game is turning a corner for the better. It sure seems like her business relationships aren’t struggling. She seems to be a popular choice for the companies looking to target the younger consumers.
