Finally, the moment we have all been speculating on for almost three months now. Tiger Woods is going to finally sit down and face the music. Well not really, but he is going to talk to the media. And let me make one thing very clear. He is going to talk to the media and “It is NOT a press conference.” Yes this is the statement from his website and his agent wants everyone to understand that this is not going to be a press conference and Tiger will read a statement.
Tiger will speak to “a small group of friends, colleagues, and close associates” according to his website as well. According to a report on The Golf Channel, there will be three wire services present, The Associated Press, Bloomberg, and Reuters, along with only one camera which will have a live feed and The Golf Writers Association of America will recommend a few reporters to attend.
My take on it goes a little like this. Tiger Woods’ entire career has been scripted and rehearsed many times over. This is no different. Who are these “friends, colleagues, and close associates” they speak of? Does that include fellow PGA Tour players? Does that include Phil Knight of Nike? Does that include his wife and kids? Look, Tiger Woods owes me nothing. Yes I will tune in and yes I have been speculating myself of what has happen. But Tiger didn’t cheat on me. Tiger didn’t betray my trust. Tiger Woods owes his wife and family the apology first and foremost. Secondly he owes his sponsors and business partners an apology just because they trusted him and paid him a lot of money to be the face of there company.
I think Tiger is ready to get back to golf. He has probably apologized to his wife and family many many times now and has probably made a personal call to these friends and associates and personally invited them to attend. The whole marriage thing is really in Tiger’s hands right now. Is he going to be faithful now or will he continue to be the person that led to this mess.
That is all in his hands now. I just want to see Tiger Woods back on the golf couse.
