PGA Tour Golf Tournaments
With the PGA Tour season finally getting back under way next week at Kapalua for the Hyundai Tournament of Champions, I thought it would be the perfect time to list out the my top nine PGA Tour golf tournaments I would like to go see live.
Each year, I tell myself I want to travel and see a different PGA Tour tournament in person. Over the years, I’ve compiled these golf tournaments that would be at the top of the list. While there’s over 50 golf tournaments played on the PGA Tour each season, there’s not many I think are worth traveling to. I’d be more content sitting on the couch and watching on the TV.
For the sake of assuming all of you know I would like to travel and see every major championship live, I have left those off the list. While in no particular order, here are my top nine PGA Tour golf tournaments I’d like to go see live:
RBC Heritage at Harbour Town Golf Links
What attracts me to the RBC Heritage is the golf course and the area surrounding it. How can you not like Hilton Head Island, South Carolina? I’d get to have fresh seafood each day and play some great golf courses in the area. The tournament also attracts a decent field so that would be a plus.
Waste Management Phoenix Open at TPC Scottsdale
One reason: Par 3, 16th. To experience this party surrounding the 16th hole would be truly great. I have no desire to go see the rest of the golf course and would try to post up on the 16th for an entire day. With Scottsdale and Phoenix all close by I’d be able to spend a couple days playing golf in one of the best golfing areas in the United States.
Zurich Classic of New Orleans at TPC Louisiana
I’ve never been to New Orleans but I list this city as one of the top places I’d like to visit. While I might not get a stellar field for the Zurich Classic, the city and atmosphere of the French Quarter would make up for it. Hell, I might even get to see John Peterson wrestle an alligator.
Wells Fargo Championship at Quail Hollow
I don’t really know what there is to do in Charoltte, North Carolina so the golf course and the field of players this tournament attracts is what draws me to the Wells Fargo Championship. I am sure I can find a golf course or two in the area. Hell, maybe I can even head to Pinehurst Resort from Charlotte. It’s only two hours away.
The PLAYERS Championship at TPC Sawgrass
Who else wouldn’t want to see PGA Tour Pros get all flustered and pissed off after hitting two balls in the drink on the island green? I’d post up as close to the beer tent and then watch every group play through the par-3, 17th. I’d want to watch who actually throws a fit and gets pissed for hitting it in the water.
The Memorial Tournament at Muirfield Village
Who the hell wants to go to Dublin, Ohio? (sorry OSU people). But The Memorial Tournament is hosted by the greatest golfer of all time and the golf course is tremendous. On top of that, you normally have just bout every top player on the PGA Tour honoring Jack and showing up at his tournament.
WGC Bridgestone Invitational at Firestone Country Club
Along with The Memorial, the WGC Bridgestone has one of the top-10 fields each year. Every superstar golfer normally shows up at Firestone to take on the world’s best. The golf course is also pretty amazing. Not too sure what I’d do in Akron, Ohio to pass the time, but going to this golf tournament would assure I’d see some great golf.
TOUR Championship at East Lake Country Club
East Lake Country Club is full of golf tradition, with the club being the home course of Bobby Jones. While this tournament only has a field of 30 players each year, they do happen to be the 30 best PGA Tour golfers from throughout the year. On top of that, there’s something called the Fed Ex Cup on the line with a prize of $10 million.

I would have to say Pebble for me. That course just looks awesome. When I get enough $ I will have to play it.

Yep! Pebble looks awesome. I’ve never played it either.
