So Tiger Woods is participating in the made for Golf Channel Tavistock Cup. This is the annual get-together between Isleworth and Lake Nona, two exclusive golf clubs in the Orlando area operated by the Tavistock Group. This year, two other clubs have joined forces and Tiger is playing for Albany, a Bahamas golf development in which he is involved with. Queenwood is another golf club in England which is operated by the Tavistock Group as well. (Hint Tavistock Cup...) The one thing that … [Read more...]
Front9Back9’s Golf Picks & Predictions: WGC-Cadillac Championship
Well it's that time again, time to make my golf picks and predictions for this week. The WGC-Cadillac Championship is on the schedule which means the big dogs are teeing it up. I need a big week so I can move up the board in fantasy, so I am not holding back anything this week. Tiger Woods- Yes I am picking Tiger Woods. He needs a win and needs a win bad. Tiger has won on this course six times, but the last came in 2007. Just in case the reports are true that Tiger was erratic in … [Read more...]
Who Will Be The Next American to Overtake #1 Again?
When the Official World Golf Rankings are updated on Monday, the top four spots will be held by players from across the pond. Europe that is, and it's really remarkable to look at the top ten. The top five players in order go like this; Martin Kaymer, Lee Westwood, Luke Donald, and Graeme McDowell and Tiger Woods. The win by Luke Donald this weekend at the WGC-Accenture Match Play Championship and the great play by Martin Kaymer secured Europe will hold the top spots for now, with Paul Casey … [Read more...]
Did Anyone Catch How Upbeat Tiger Woods Was After His Match?
The first day of competition is in the books at the WGC-Accenture Match Play Championship, and Tiger Woods choked it away on the 19th hole by hitting it in the brush, while Thomas Bjorn put it in the middle of the fairway. It's hard to play from the desert behind cactus and thorn bushes even when you are Tiger Woods. I guess he now has more time to "figure things out" for the rest of the week. He wasn't too happy after the round expressed his displeasure on air to Roger Maltbie, saying he's … [Read more...]
February Madness: WGC-Accenture Match Play Championship
We are less than three weeks away from NCAA March Madness, so what better of a way to get my bracket picking skills oiled up then picking the WGC-Accenture Match Play Championship bracket. I found a good challenge over at GolfWeek.com, which is giving away some good prizes. Unlike NCAA March Madness, I will only have one bracket for the Golf Week Match Play Challenge. As we all know, anything can happen in the first round, and there are some very intriguing match-ups that can go either … [Read more...]
How Long Until Tiger Woods Drops Sean Foley?
Before the start of the year, I predicted five wins and at least two majors for Tiger Woods in 2011. It's still early and I am going to stick with my prediction for now. But let's pose the question.. IF Tiger Woods goes winless in 2011, how fast will Sean Foley be kicked out of the Tigers' "circle of trust"? What if I take it one notch further, and Tiger Woods gets through the four majors at the end of August and has no wins. Will Sean Foley be kicked out before the year is even … [Read more...]
Tiger Woods is Now the Player Shooting Final Round 75’s
I am sitting here watching the final round of the Dubai Desert Classic, although I already know who won. It wasn't Tiger Woods. In fact, Tiger had a horrible Sunday. He shot a 3-over 75 in his quest to win for the first time in over a year. Tiger Woods is no longer intimidating on Sundays. It used to amazingly simple for Tiger to go into the final round of a tournament behind by one stroke and come out with a victory. The players ahead of him used to see his name near the top and choke it … [Read more...]
How Much Would It Cost Me to Add Front9Back9 Golf Blog to Tiger Woods’ Golf Bag?
Tiger Woods is one of the most, if not THE most, recognized athlete in the world. Along with that notoriety of being the #1 athlete in the world, comes major wealth. So what would you be willing to pay Tiger Woods to promote a product for you? Nike pays him a reported $25 million yearly to wear a swoosh on every piece of clothing he owns. Gatorade, AT&T, Tag Heuer, and Accenture have all paid him millions each year to say their product is the best. But none of these numbers compare … [Read more...]
Tiger Woods and the Gang Have Farmers Title in Their Sights
At times yesterday, Tiger Woods looked like he's back. At other times, Tiger Woods looked like the hacks at the local muni on the weekends. On the front 9, Tiger Woods managed to hit it close and sink some putts, good for a 32. On the back 9, he made a mockery of at least three bunker shots and made me feel much better about my bunker game. He finished with three bogeys on the back, along with two birdies to finish, and ended his round at 3-under for the day and 6-under overall. Phil … [Read more...]
The Resurrection of Tiger Woods: First Up, Torrey Pines
The headlines seemed to be dominated around mid-day today with word that Tiger Woods committed to the Farmers Insurance Open. While not such a big surprise, this will be his first tournament at Torrey Pines since he won that dramatic U.S. Open in 2009 on a broken leg. Woods has dominated Torrey Pines, winning the Farmers six times over his career, along with the 2009 U.S. Open. To be honest, I am pretty stoked about it. But which Tiger do you think we are going to see? In his last event … [Read more...]
Happy Birthday Tiger Woods
Tiger Woods had a rough 2010. But today, with only three days until the start of a new year, Tiger Woods turns 35. What do you do if you are Tiger Woods on your birthday? Maybe throw a big party at your new mansion and invite Michael Jordan and Charles Barkley? Or maybe jump on your G5 and fly to the end of the world away from the lime light to hook up with a lady friend? Who knows, but one things for sure, Tiger Woods is glad 2010 is coming to an end and he can start fresh in 2011. … [Read more...]
Golf+Dubai+Tiger= Awesome
Each week, professional golf tournaments hold Pro-Am events on the days leading up to the actual start of the tournament. The players are typically required to play in these events, and regular every-day scrubs fork over ten's of thousand dollars for the chance to play with the best players in the world. But now, the Dubai Desert Classic is offering a chance of a lifetime for one lucky amateur golfer. In early February, Tiger Woods will show up in Dubai to compete in the Dubai Desert … [Read more...]

So here you go, Front9Back9’s Top 10 Golf Stories of 2010. 10.) Grooves debate- The groove change in 2010 was by far the biggest equipment change in many years on tour. Phil Mickelson … [Read more...]
Did anyone know Tiger Woods had a tough year?
Tiger Woods had a rough year. If you did not know that, you must have been born yesterday. On Friday, the Tiger Woods saga was voted the top sports story of 2010. Not much of a surprise to me. The title over at Golf Week duped me. The way it read was "Tiger Woods' saga is AP Story of the Year." To me, the title makes it sound like it's the top overall story of the year, but the the first paragraph clears things up when it says it was voted #1 "sports story." So is Tiger Woods the top … [Read more...]
Tiger, Phil, Jim… Take a hike
Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson and Jim Furyk, please take a hike. It's 2011 and you are no longer needed. That is the message PGA Tour Commissioner Tim Finchem conveyed in his final teleconference of 2010. Well to be fair, that wasn't exactly what he said. It was more along the lines of: I've never in my tenure seen so much buzz and interest about rookies and young players creating exciting performances. Finchem continues to say the buzz has led the PGA Tour to believe they need to focus … [Read more...]
Front9Back9 Weekend Tap-ins
The first weekend in December normally is pretty boring in the golf world, but this one turned out to be pretty entertaining. Here is a quick recap of what happen this past weekend. If you don't know already, Tiger Woods blew a four shot lead and lost his own tournament at the Chevron World Challenge. Tiger says it's a positive step and he's fine with blowing his lead. I doubt that. He probably got up this morning and made himself do 1,024 pushups and situps. Either way, he is close and … [Read more...]
Close, but not close enough
In what normally shapes up to be a boring December golf tournament, the final round of the Chevron World Challenge turned out to be a spectacular event. Tiger Woods dominated Sherwood Country Club the first three days of the tournament, but a little pesky Irishman hung around, sort-of the same way he just hung around at Pebble Beach in the U.S. Open, and sank two huge putts to rip the heart from Tiger Woods. To be honest, Tiger blew the tournament. It was the first time he has lost a golf … [Read more...]
Tiger Woods continues his dominace at Sherwood
On Saturday, Tiger Woods continued his great play firing a 68 to keep a four shot lead over Graeme McDowell. Tiger got off to a little bit of a slow start today by bogeying the par-5 second hole, but came back with three birdies in a row on 5,6 and 7 to finish the front9 with a 34. He continued his great play on the back 9 shooting another 34. Paul Casey and Graeme McDowell made a semi-run at Tiger today but faltered in the end, and Tiger was able to hold onto the four shot lead going into … [Read more...]
Well, well, well… Look who’s at the top…
Somebody by the name of Tiger Woods, that's who. Sure it's only the first round, and Tiger has had flashes of good rounds this year, but Woods shot a first round 65 today in his annual Chevron World Challenge, the limited field golf tournament which benefits his foundation. With the 7-under round today, that puts him atop the leader board with Rory McIlroy and Graeme McDowell one back at 6-under. The next closest group is 3-under with Dustin Johnson and Stewart Cink. It's a good first … [Read more...]
Golf Picks & Predictions: Chevron World Challenge
Typically during my Picks & Predictions post each week, I pick four players in which I think have a great chance to win. To be honest, most of my choices are just a random pick. I do actually look over the field for the week and use a few stats here and there and I do take in to account how hot the player has been playing recently. But mostly, I might-as-well just put all the names in a hat and draw from there. I would probably have a better chance at picking the winner like that. … [Read more...]
