The Shell Houston Open starts off the Spring session of Yahoo Fantasy Golf, and I plan on winning it. I finished in 70th place in Fans of Devil Ball for the winter session. My picks are going to be better this time around, and I will lead from start to finish. Some players use this week at the Shell Houston Open as a tune-up for The Masters next week, while some actually play to win. Phil Mickelson is one of the guys who is really not interested in playing to win, he is just more worried … [Read more...]

When you become CEO of a multi-national corporation, you get access to some of the finer things in life. Whether it’s private jet access, a $2 million mansion, or a vintage 1950 Cabernet, one thing many CEO’s enjoy is access to some of the best golf courses around the world. CNN Money has a slideshow with six top CEO’s and which golf courses they enjoy the most. It’s no surprise that a few of them are the best-of-the-best, and one which is kindof a surprise. Mark King, CEO of Taylor Made … [Read more...]
Front9Back9’s Golf Picks & Predictions: Arnold Palmer Invitational
This is the final week for the Winter series in Fans of Devil Ball Fantasy Golf. I pretty much was horrible. I am currently in 75th place going into the Arnold Palmer Invitational this week. Next week at the Shell Houston Open the Spring series starts, so it all starts over again, so I plan on winning the Spring. This week at Bay Hill the big dogs are in the field again. Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson and the rest of the gang are all looking to get their games in tip-top shape since The … [Read more...]
Tiger Woods iPhone App Hits The Market
If you have an iPhone or iPod Touch you can now swing like Tiger Woods. That’s because Tiger Woods has launched a new App called “Tiger Woods: My Swing.” You can pick it up for a cool $9.99 in the App Store right now. It looks like a pretty cool app, and seems to have many features. One of the main features is you can capture video with it and compare your swing with Tiger Woods’ golf swing, with every club in Tiger’s bag. Tiger even chimes in with his own “personal” testimonial: With the … [Read more...]
Chief Executive Golfer Posts 3rd Place Finish at Transitions Championship
If you are interested in life on the PGA Tour, or the struggle to make a life on the PGA Tour, then a blog written by PGA Tour players Scott Stallings called Chief Executive Golfer on BNET.com is great read. Stallings chronicles his life on TOUR and talks about how important it is to operate his golf playing as an actual business. I am confident in saying most people think life on the PGA Tour is all fun and luxury for everybody. Sure, for guys like Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson and some … [Read more...]
Gary Woodland Picks Up First PGA Tour Win, And a Masters Invitation To Go Along With It
Gary Woodland won more than a PGA Tour tournament on Sunday. Along with the biggest payday of his career and a two year exemption on TOUR, he will be playing in The Masters in three weeks. Woodland won the Transitions Championship on Sunday with a 10-foot par putt on his 72nd hole, while Webb Simpson bogeyed the 18th right behind him to hand the victory over to Woodland. Simpson really choke it away on the final holes on Sunday, playing considerably slower than the previous days. The … [Read more...]
Does Tiger Woods Have A New Girlfriend?
I have been wondering for some time now how long it was going to take until these reports started surfacing again, but here it is, Tiger Woods has a new girlfriend. Tabloid reports from RadarOnline.com say Tiger Woods is dating a 22-year old daughter of a high ranking IMG executive. That is the same IMG that represents Tiger in his business dealings. Alysa Lahti Johnson is a party girl living in the same Orlando neighborhood as Tiger, and recently was arrested for DUI. Who knows if … [Read more...]
Front9Back9’s Golf Picks & Predictions: Transitions Championship
The PGA Tour moves on to the Tampa Bay area for the Transitions Championship this week. The Westin Innisbrook Copperhead Course is always a favorite place to play for the pros and this week should be no different. There can only be one winner, so he will come from one of my golf picks below. Jim Furyk- The defending champion has changed putters and changed his putting stroke. Furyk hasn't played all that well so far this year but this could be the week to turn it around. To back up … [Read more...]
I Don’t Care If You Are Progressing. Just F’ing Win Already.
So Tiger Woods is participating in the made for Golf Channel Tavistock Cup. This is the annual get-together between Isleworth and Lake Nona, two exclusive golf clubs in the Orlando area operated by the Tavistock Group. This year, two other clubs have joined forces and Tiger is playing for Albany, a Bahamas golf development in which he is involved with. Queenwood is another golf club in England which is operated by the Tavistock Group as well. (Hint Tavistock Cup...) The one thing that … [Read more...]
Nick Watney Gets Revenge on the Blue Monster
Two years ago, Nick Watney was one golf ball revolution away from taking Phil Mickelson to a playoff in what was then known as the WGC-CA Championship. This year, besides the tee shot in the water the 18th hole on Saturday, Nick Watney was in full control of his game. On Sunday, he drained a birdie putt on the 72nd hole to win the WGC-Cadillac Champioship. The birdie was technically not needed, but knowing Dustin Johnson had piped it down the middle behind him, he knew if he holed the putt, … [Read more...]
Front9Back9’s Golf Picks & Predictions: WGC-Cadillac Championship
Well it's that time again, time to make my golf picks and predictions for this week. The WGC-Cadillac Championship is on the schedule which means the big dogs are teeing it up. I need a big week so I can move up the board in fantasy, so I am not holding back anything this week. Tiger Woods- Yes I am picking Tiger Woods. He needs a win and needs a win bad. Tiger has won on this course six times, but the last came in 2007. Just in case the reports are true that Tiger was erratic in … [Read more...]
Rory Sabbatini Wins The Honda Classic
On Thursday, I tuned into The Golf Channel broadcast of The Honda Classic and listened to the commentators talk about how long it's been since Rory Sabbatini had done anything on TOUR and how far he has dropped in the World Golf Rankings. On Sunday, Rory Sabbatini won The Honda Classic, and I wonder if maybe he tuned into the broadcast to hear Dottie Pepper and the gang bash him. At the conclusion of play on Sunday, only 13 players were in red numbers. The PGA National Championship Course … [Read more...]
Front9Back9’s Golf Picks & Predictions: The Honda Classic
My fantasy golf has been horrendous this year. Currently I am sitting in 85th place in Fans of Devil Ball Fantasy Golf. The PGA Tour is moving across the country and the first stop is in Palm Beach Gardens, FL at The Honda Classic. Last Thursday rumors were swirling that Tiger Woods could possibly enter after his terrible WGC Match Play showing, but that turned out false. The tournament is right in his new backyard pretty close to his new estate in Florida. He didn't enter, citing … [Read more...]
Who Will Be The Next American to Overtake #1 Again?
When the Official World Golf Rankings are updated on Monday, the top four spots will be held by players from across the pond. Europe that is, and it's really remarkable to look at the top ten. The top five players in order go like this; Martin Kaymer, Lee Westwood, Luke Donald, and Graeme McDowell and Tiger Woods. The win by Luke Donald this weekend at the WGC-Accenture Match Play Championship and the great play by Martin Kaymer secured Europe will hold the top spots for now, with Paul Casey … [Read more...]
Red Hot Luke Donald Faces World’s New #1 Martin Kaymer in Final
Luke Donald has been playing some great golf this week. On Saturday, Donald started the day by taking out Ryan Moore 5 & 4. In the afternoon match, Luke took out Matt Kuchar 6 & 5. This was after beating Manassero on Friday 3 & 2, Molinari on Thursday 2 & 1 and starting the week by pounding Charley Hoffman 6 & 5. Luke Donald is clearly playing the best golf this week and the winning outcomes in his five matches so far have proved it. But on Sunday, he will be taking on … [Read more...]
Who Is Playing The Best Right Now?
With three of the top four seeds now eliminated in the WGC-Accenture Match Play who is the new favorite to win? A lot of golf is left to play but it seems Rickie Fowler, Jason Day, Y.E. Yang, and Graeme McDowell are on top of their games right now. Fowler took out Phil Mickelson 6 & 5 today and now sets up a match-up with another Ryder Cup teammate Matt Kuchar on Friday. Y.E. Yang beat Stewart Cink 4 & 3 and Graeme McDowell won his match Ross Fisher and both of these winners will … [Read more...]
Front9Back9’s Golf Picks and Predictions: Mayakoba Golf Classic
Tiger Woods probably wishes he would have skipped the WGC-Accenture Match Play and went down to Cancun instead to play in the Mayakoba Golf Classic. While the top 66 players in the world are in Arizona there is another golf tournament going on down in Mexico. In Fans of Devil Ball Fantasy Golf I just flat out suck. I am in 81st place and there is probably only 82 players in the group. Anyways, here are my picks this week which I hope do something for me. Rory Sabbatini- I picked Sabbatini … [Read more...]
Did Anyone Catch How Upbeat Tiger Woods Was After His Match?
The first day of competition is in the books at the WGC-Accenture Match Play Championship, and Tiger Woods choked it away on the 19th hole by hitting it in the brush, while Thomas Bjorn put it in the middle of the fairway. It's hard to play from the desert behind cactus and thorn bushes even when you are Tiger Woods. I guess he now has more time to "figure things out" for the rest of the week. He wasn't too happy after the round expressed his displeasure on air to Roger Maltbie, saying he's … [Read more...]
February Madness: WGC-Accenture Match Play Championship
We are less than three weeks away from NCAA March Madness, so what better of a way to get my bracket picking skills oiled up then picking the WGC-Accenture Match Play Championship bracket. I found a good challenge over at GolfWeek.com, which is giving away some good prizes. Unlike NCAA March Madness, I will only have one bracket for the Golf Week Match Play Challenge. As we all know, anything can happen in the first round, and there are some very intriguing match-ups that can go either … [Read more...]
Aaron Baddeley Fends Off Fred Couples and Vijay Singh to Win at Riviera
It’s been about a week since I last wrote anything; I have been running around like a chicken with my head cut off working on some things. I did get a chance to watch the ending of the Northern Trust Open yesterday and boy was I rooting for Fred Couples. It didn’t end up working out too well for him, but it’s good to see Aaron Baddeley back in the winner’s circle. When I turned on the Golf Channel coverage around noon on Sunday, Fred Couples was on the second hold and had just birdies #1. … [Read more...]
