The Haney Project has always been one of my favorite shows on The Golf Channel over the last couple years. Charles Barkley was probably the best season and it seems Barkley is still struggling with his game. Rush Limbaugh joins Haney this year which will probably be a pretty entertaining series. Limbaugh is the right winged talk show host who overcame a pill addiction and continues to be a very popular voice when it comes to the Republican side of politics. Limbaugh loves to talk, and the … [Read more...]
Jonathan Byrd Take the First Tournament of 2011
Jonathan Byrd won the 2011 Hyuandai Tournament of Champions on the second playoff hole to take the first tournament of the year. He beat Robert Garrigus on the second playoff hole after both guys parred the 18th in the first playoff hole. Robert Garrigus had the chance to extend the playoff but missed a short putt after Byrd already carded a par on the hole #1. He took the loss with a grain of salt and said in the post round interview he was exhausted. He said he gained a ton of confidence … [Read more...]
Dustin Johnson is my new idol
Can you have an idol that is younger than you? Now I am not normally envy of people unless they play golf for a living and date Natalie Gulbis. Reports are coming out that Dustin Johnson and Natalie Gulbis are golf's new power couple. Natalie was seen following Dustin yesterday on the course at the Hyundai Tournament of Champions. When asked about it she laughed it off and said," I'll let Dustin handle our PR." Two of golf's youngest stars dating makes for good paparazzi stories. Golf … [Read more...]

DOH!! Each and every week, a group of golfers here in San Antonio get together just for fun. It's a small group, maybe 12-15 guys. They formed a rules group and invite anyone to come out and join them at different restaurants each week around San Antonio. Just a bunch of guys who … [Read more...]
Tiger Woods and Golf Digest mutually end instruction articles
Golf Digest wanted more of Tiger’s time. Tiger wanted more time to himself. So in the spirit of happy negotiating, the two parties decided to split ways on Thursday, and we will no longer see Tiger Woods’ golf instruction articles in Golf Digest. The two parties claim it’s a mutual split and it starts to make me wonder if Tiger’s agent, Mark Steinberg, is really not even fighting too much for these endorsements. This announcement comes on the heels of Gillette’s announcement it would not be … [Read more...]
7 Golfers Who Would Be Awesome to Hear Miked Up
The Golf Channel and the PGA Tour need to find something to jazz up broadcasts, maybe peak the interest a little more of casual golf fan. The idea has been floated around before and the PGA Tour has now approved to allow the Golf Channel to mike players during the tournaments. The catch, players must agree to wear the mike. Personally, I love the idea. Have you ever watched NFL Network or ESPN when they have the players and coaches miked up on the sidelines or on the field. It's great. I … [Read more...]
Front9Back9’s Golf Picks & Predictions
The PGA Tour kicks off 2011 tomorrow in Maui at the Hyundai Tournament of Champions. This limited field event is reserved only for 2010 tournament winners. It's a fun event to start the year and a great tournament to watch on TV since the scenery is so beautiful. Kapalua Plantation Course has some of the best views, and frankly I’m getting tired of seeing all the great pictures on Twitter which these guys continue to post. Oh well, here is the first edition of Front9Back9's Golf Picks … [Read more...]
Top 10 Golf Courses I Need To Play
I recently turned 30 and not too long after my birthday I realized something. I realized there are quite a few golf courses that I need to start playing. These are courses that are open to the public. If I included any courses that are private, then I would never get my list done. You see, I have a full time "real" job during the day and I only dream of one day running this blog and my other web properties for a full time living. If that every happened, maybe one day I will have more time … [Read more...]
These chicks just never give up do they?
It's been a long week, you worked 65 hours this week, yet only got paid for 40. Your rent is late again and you are two months behind on your electricity. Each time your boss comes to your desk, you imagine yourself picking up the stapler and hitting him or her in the back of the head. But now, it's finally payday Friday, and your buddies want you to meet them at the local watering hole. You instead, have to pass. Why? Because you are going to go to the newest and hippest spa in NYC and … [Read more...]
5 Golfers Who Need to Have a Big 2011
My list of 5 Golfers Who Need to Have a Big 2011 includes top talent. Some of these golfers are considered by most to be among the best players in the world. So why are they on my list if they are so established? These five players either need to back last years hype or have done nothing since their last victory. Stewart Cink- Cink needs to prove his 2009 Open Championship wasn't a fluke. Since that victory, he missed the cut at Augusta last year and made no noise in the other three … [Read more...]

5 Predictions for the 2011 PGA Tour golf season
With 2011 less than ten hours away and the Hyundai Tournament of Champions less than a week away, I think it is a good time to make my predictions for the 2011 PGA Tour golf season. It will be fun to see how my predictions pan out at the end of 2011. So here we go: 1.) Tiger Woods will win five times in 2011, including two major championships. Crazy talk? Maybe.. But I think Tiger Woods has put 2010 behind him, and I think he is poised for a huge breakout. This could be the best sports … [Read more...]
Happy Birthday Tiger Woods
Tiger Woods had a rough 2010. But today, with only three days until the start of a new year, Tiger Woods turns 35. What do you do if you are Tiger Woods on your birthday? Maybe throw a big party at your new mansion and invite Michael Jordan and Charles Barkley? Or maybe jump on your G5 and fly to the end of the world away from the lime light to hook up with a lady friend? Who knows, but one things for sure, Tiger Woods is glad 2010 is coming to an end and he can start fresh in 2011. … [Read more...]

Golf+Dubai+Tiger= Awesome
Each week, professional golf tournaments hold Pro-Am events on the days leading up to the actual start of the tournament. The players are typically required to play in these events, and regular every-day scrubs fork over ten's of thousand dollars for the chance to play with the best players in the world. But now, the Dubai Desert Classic is offering a chance of a lifetime for one lucky amateur golfer. In early February, Tiger Woods will show up in Dubai to compete in the Dubai Desert … [Read more...]
New York Court of Appeals shoots down “Fore” dismissal lawsuit
If you are a golfer, one of the first things you learn as a youngster is yelling "fore" when you hit an errant shot is a part of golf etiquette. In a ruling handed down by the New York Court of Appeals, the golf etiquette we learned before we ever hit our first tee shot, means nothing, at least in the eye of the court. In 2002, Dr. Azad Anand was hit in the head by his playing partner, Dr. Anoop Kapoor, who failed to yell "fore." Dr. Anand claimed in a lawsuit it was reckless for his … [Read more...]

It’s that time of the year again. Yes, the time of the year when everyone starts putting together their “top 10” or “best stories of the year” articles. So here you go, Front9Back9’s Top 10 Golf Stories of 2010. 10.) Grooves debate- The groove change in 2010 was by far the biggest equipment change in many years on tour. Phil Mickelson … [Read more...]
One question: What was the point of CNN’s “Downfall: The Tiger Woods Scandal?”
Two things I want to disclose before getting deep in this post. 1.) I hate CNN. 2.) I am a Tiger Woods homer. If you have ever read my blog you probably already know I will defend him. So here we go... First off, the setting for the interview with Earl Woods Jr. and a golf course in the background is pretty lame. Does Earl Woods Jr. even play golf or did they just do that because his half-brother Tiger is the best golfer in the world? Second off, to include skank Joslyn James just goes … [Read more...]
Report: Davis Love III to captain 2012 United States Ryder Cup team
According to a source close to the decision, Davis Love III has been named the captain of the 2012 United State Ryder Cup team. The Golf Channel first reported the story and the official announcement is not expected until sometime the first of the year. The move really comes as no surprise, and Love III has been the overall favorite by many people, including me back in October. Davis Love III served as a co-captain to Corey Pavin in Wales, when the U.S. team lost the cup to Europe. So … [Read more...]
Did anyone know Tiger Woods had a tough year?
Tiger Woods had a rough year. If you did not know that, you must have been born yesterday. On Friday, the Tiger Woods saga was voted the top sports story of 2010. Not much of a surprise to me. The title over at Golf Week duped me. The way it read was "Tiger Woods' saga is AP Story of the Year." To me, the title makes it sound like it's the top overall story of the year, but the the first paragraph clears things up when it says it was voted #1 "sports story." So is Tiger Woods the top … [Read more...]
