LIVE AT THE 2008 RYDER CUP
If you have never been to a Ryder Cup, put that on your bucket list. And if you watched NBC coverage of the 2016 Ryder Cup that should be enough reason to boycott any NBC golf telecast and go “Live to a Ryder Cup”.
To experience a week at the Ryder Cup is a golfer’s ultimate pipe dream. Ryan was fortunate to win the ticket lottery back in 2008. Kim (Ryno’s mom) and I got to attend the 2008 Ryder Cup along with Ryan. I got there at the beginning of the week and enjoyed all the practice rounds that puts you up close and personal with all the Euros and the U.S. teams. Nick Faldo vs. Paul (the pods) Azinger. I compare it to the best of WWF and UFC. Being brought up with a strict respect for the game of golf and golf etiquette, I was out my comfort zone for the Friday matches. But, by the time Sunday rolled around, we were all decked out in red, white, and blue and yes, cheering for every bad shot and missed three footer by a European player. I will have to confess, I let Sergio have it after he hit two balls in the water on the par 5 7th hole, and loved when Anthony Kim took him down on #12 during the Sunday singles matches. Sorry Dad, I am sure you and Ryan have had a few beers and discussed our behavior up in heaven. I know Ryan and you had great seats without commercial interruptions.
How many times can you watch the same commercials over and over? I plan to boycott all those products also. I have put in for the lottery every year and if 2018 is unsuccessful, I have to find a TV provider in Europe. I will become a subscriber to European TV. I prefer cable, but I am sure I will have to resort to satellite. Don’t believe the Euros are as $$$ hungry as NothingButCommericals. So, apply for the lottery every year and go “Live to the Ryder Cup”. Just a quick piece of advise for you young bucks. The ultimate bucket list suggestions. Attend all four majors and the Ryder Cup in the same year. In 2008, we attended the Masters, US Open (Tiger’s last major), and the Ryder Cup. If you want to be really creative, add the Olympics.
CONGRATULATIONS TO THE 2016 USA RYDER CUP TEAM
While my frustrations where obvious with the telecast, from what I saw, congratulations to the USA team for bringing the cup back. And, yes, Phil’s match with Sergio was exceptional golf. Sergio, I congratulate you for your performance. In regards to the personal comments made by a few idiots in the gallery, I was again out of my comfort zone as it relates to the lessons taught to me by my dad and the lessons I tried to convene to both Ryan, and his brother Kyle, while on the golf course. Even my daughter Britni, who does not play, knows golf etiquette. Ryan, I missed your company and thought about you often during the 2016 Ryder Cup. I love you and will see you and PaPa down the road. We are all looking forward to the arrival of Bryson Randall on October 18, 2016. We know you will be looking down from heaven on that day. Chris and Bryson will always know who their daddy is and the lives you touched. Love you son.
