The PGA Tour is at Trump National Doral this week for the WGC Cadillac Championship and once again I am making my fantasy golf picks on PGATour.com for the week.
I’ve pretty much sucked it up for the entire year with my fantasy picks and there’s no chance of ever getting near the top. This week I am going to do something different and pick all studs for my fantasy golf lineup. In the past, I’ve tried to pick a couple hot lesser known players who might pull out a victory and score me some points that others aren’t picking. Not this week.
The Course
Trump National Doral is the venue this week with The Blue Monster course taking on the best players in the world. The course can stretch to over 7,500 yards if needed and the par-72 beast will surely test the players this week.
Donald Trump reportedly purchase Doral a few years ago for $150 million. Since then, figures have been pegged at between $200-$250 million that The Donald has put into renovations not only in the golf course but the entire facility.
Defending Champion
Come on, we all remember the infamous words that sent shock waves through the golf world last year. Yep, Patrick Reed took home the trophy last year and then proceed to tell the world he is a top-5 player. At the time, Reed was absolutely hammered for his comments. But since then, I think Reed has only proven that he belongs on this Tour just as much as the next guy. Reed will be in the field this week defending.
Front9Back9 Fantasy Golf Picks
As I stated in the opening, I am going with all big dogs this week. So here we go, my fantasy golf picks for the WGC Cadillac Championship.
Dustin Johnson
DJ has been playing well since he returned to the PGA Tour back at Torrey Pines. He’s finished top-5 in two events already this year and had a top-5 finish at Doral last year. It just feels like Dustin is ready to win a big event very soon.
Patrick Reed
The defending champion was in contention last week at The Honda Classic and loves to play on the big stage. He won’t be a surprise to anyone this year and I would not be surprised to see Reed near the top by Sunday.
Bubba Watson
With two 2nd place finishes here in the last few years Bubba knows how to get near the top of the leaderboard by Sunday. He’s been playing well this year and Bubba can take the Fed Ex Cup lead this week with a victory.
Rory McIlroy
Ah yes. The final beast to roundup my foursome of studs. I am going all in this week with these guys. Rory missed the cut at The Honda Classic last year and then followed that up with a smooth 63 at the Seminole Pro-Member on Monday. This dude will win for sure this week. Count it.
So there you go, my fantasy picks for the WGC Cadillac. What do you think? Who you got? Let me know below or hit us up on Twitter @Front9Back9.
