#ProjectBreak80: Analyzing My Golf Game
I have recently set myself a 16-month goal of cutting my handicap in half. Currently, as of the 8/15 GHIN update, I have a 10.8 handicap. What this means is I would like to have my handicap down to a 5.4 by end of 2015. Is this possible? I think so. It will take some practice and focus, but I think I can do this. Starting with yesterday's round, I am going to begin tracking each round of golf I play and identify where I could improve the most. Sure, it's easy to say my entire golf … [Read more...]

Dick’s Sporting Goods Cutting Back on Golf Business
Late last year, I wrote an article about Edwin Watts filing for bankruptcy, and the extreme displeasure in dealing with Edwin Watts over the years here in San Antonio. Although I vowed to never shop at Edwin Watts again, I do have to admit I took full advantage of the store liquidation here in San Antonio, buying 10 FootJoy golf gloves and 3-dozen Titleist NXT Tour golf balls for about $105. Also in that article, I predicted Golf Galaxy might be one of the next big box retail golfers to meet … [Read more...]
Does the FedEx Cup Seem Like it Will Be Boring This Year?
Is it just me or does the PGA Tour FedEx Cup playoffs have a different feel this year? What I mean by a "different feel" is that nobody seems to give a damn about it. Looking at the top-1o right now as we're half-way through the Wyndham Championship, let's hope we can get some fireworks over the next four weeks: 1.) Rory McIlroy - Hopefully we'll see Rory play all four events, but most likely we'll see him play 2-3 events. He'll probably win it easily this year. 2.) Jimmy Walker - … [Read more...]
So Dustin Johnson is a Coke Head… (Reportedly)
Come on, don't lie. When you first heard about Dustin Johnson's self-described "leave of absence" from professional golf for the remainder of 2014, what did you really think? Did you really think he was taking time off on his own to "improve my mental health and well-being?" Or, did the "better equipped to fulfill my potential and become a consistent champion" get you? If you're like me, the first thing that went through your mind was "He got popped for something." So it comes as no … [Read more...]
