I am going with sort-of a Texas flare this week with my golf picks. Why? Well because I’m from Texas and live here in San Antonio where the Valero Texas Open is teeing off tomorrow. My PGA Tour Fantasy Game standings are pretty abysmal so far this year. I have a total of 3,824 points with the leader sitting at 7,131. Ouch! That puts me in 2,811th place overall which sucks.
This week I am turning the tables though. As I mentioned above my picks are all Texas proud and if my four players have a big week I should pick up some good ground. Although Jordan Spieth is the top overall picked player this week, I can still pick up some points with the other players.
So without further ado, here’s my Valero Texas Open picks:
Jordan Spieth
Can he pick up his second PGA Tour victory? He grew up in Dallas and played college golf 90 minutes away in Austin. Jordan has experience on this TPC San Antonio course and is revving up for some Masters action. Look for Jordan to play well.
Jimmy Walker
Come on? Do you think I’d leave the local resident off my picks? He lives about 30 minutes away in Boerne and will sleep in his own bed this week. He last played two weeks ago and could the fourth win of the season come by the end of March? Let’s hope!
Martin Flores
This is where I am going to pick up my points. Martin Flores grew up in San Antonio and attended a local high school here where he starred in golf. He has since moved away to Dallas but played well here last year with a T-10 finish. Look for Flores to make a run this weekend if he makes the cut.
Ryan Palmer
My last Texan golf pick is Ryan Palmer. Two runner-ups this season with his latest at The Honda a couple weeks back. Palmer is ready to win this thing and pick up another PGA Tour victory.
