Forbes is releasing it’s annual richest athlete list in a couple weeks and guess what – Tiger Woods is the richest athlete again. The only question I have is whether or not Elin is still entitled to future earnings or if that gravy train ended when Tiger scratched her an estimated $100 million back when he was sexing it up with everyone on the planet.
Look it’s no surprise Tiger has regained #1 as the richest athlete, especially since he seems to be regaining form and collects $1 million checks with each tournament he wins. Just his on-course earnings last year was $13.1 million, more than lots of guys will ever earn in an entire ten year career.
Most of his money was earned from Nike, which reportedly pays him $20 million per year. With Rory McIlroy signing with Nike for a reported $20 million, you knew it wouldn’t be long before Tiger would be announcing another multi-year endorsement deal. So sure enough, reports have surfaced now that Tiger and Nike are working on another endorsement deal that will surely help keep Tiger as the best paid athlete next year as well.
I’m happy for Tiger, I really am. He lost a cool hundred million when Elin kicked his ass to the curb. Making $78.1 million per year for about another ten years will surely help him recover some of that lost cash – unless of course he decides to marry Lindsey Vonn and then cheats on her and has to fork over another $100 million.
Oh well, none of this money will help him win anymore golf tournaments. So let’s hope he shook off the Memorial debacle and he’s ready to play golf next week at Merion.
