I’m stuck with a dilemma right now with my golf predictions for the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am. On one hand, Dustin Johnson is a two-time champion here at Pebble Beach and then played the U.S. Open pretty well right up until the weekend. On the other hand, how can I look past Phil Mickelson this week who is practically smirking at me daring me to pick him. I also said a couple days ago I was benching Phil for a bit. So what is one to do?
With my “A” team pick this week, I am going with Dustin Johnson (BTW, I feel like I am coping out with this pick.) What can I say? I can’t pass up the opportunity to watch him possibly move me up in the standings. For my backup, I am going with Jonathan Byrd.
Vijay Singh– Did the Big Fijian resurrect himself last week in Phoenix? Is he poised to have a big year? One thing I know for sure is he made a big weekend run at the winning circle last week and seems to be playing great right now. Vijay is actually my favorite to win this week. Just in case, I am backing Vijay up with Sean O’Hair.
Davis Love III– Pebble Beach is among the favorite courses for many golfers. Davis Love III is no different. I expect Davis Love to have numerous top-10 finishes this year and Pebble Beach should be a good start. Tim Clark will be his backup and if Tim gets hot, don’t think I won’t put him in.
David Duval– So this is what I am going to do. I am picking Duval for a top-10 finish this week. I am itching for him to get back in the circle I think it would make such a great story. I have really been rooting for Duval since he started playing well again and I think he will get back soon. JB Holmes will be my final backup for the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am.
Who you got this week? One thing I know for sure… Get ready for 6 hour rounds with all the amateurs hacking up the course!!
