You can now add Stuart Appleby to the “59 Club” on the PGA Tour. In the final round of The Greenbrier Classic, Appleby finished with three birdies in a row to shoot the low round, adding his name to the likes of David Duval, Al Geiberger, Chip Beck and only three weeks ago, Paul Goydos in the John Deere Classic.
Is it enough to get his first victory? CBS put up a graphic during the round saying Appleby hasn’t shot below a 65 in something like 358 rounds of competitive golf, and he hasn’t won since 2006. Jeff Overton is playing #17 right now and the hole is reachable today so a playoff may be in the works.
We will wait and see in about 30 minutes if the 59 is enough, but congratulations either way to Stuart Appleby on a nice little 59.
