I would first like to say Happy Memorial Day to everyone out there. Also a big THANK YOU to all the service men and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice to allow me and my family and friends to live freely in this great country. THANK YOU!!
Congratulations to Zach Johnson for winning the Crown Plaza Invitational at Colonial Country Club. Shooting two sweet back-to-back 64’s on Saturday and Sunday propelled him to his 7th PGA Tour victory. Brian Davis, yes the same Brian Davis who called penalty on himself in the Verizon Heritage, finished 2nd. Colonial Country Club also came out as the winner of the tournament. I heard interview after interview from the players raving on how great the condition of the course was. The CBS golf team also raved about it Saturday and Sunday numerous times.
I think Zach may be one of my top picks going into the U.S. Open at Pebble Beach in a few weeks. We will see how Pebble is set up and how deep the rough is, but Zach hits it straight and down the middle just about every time. And when you do that you always have a good shot at the U.S. Open. But that is still a few weeks away….
Up next, Tiger makes his return at the Memorial….. Can’t wait!!
