I came across a blog a few days ago I wanted to share with everyone. I enjoyed it so much I added it to my blog roll and will be checking it out weekly.
Chris Wilson is a 25 year old PGA Tour rookie. Each week he has been writing a diary post for GolfWeek.com that chronicles his rookie season on the PGA Tour. It really gives a good insight into what these guys go through weekly. From people on the outside looking in, the life of a PGA Tour pro may seem lucrative. But after 8 starts this year on the PGA Tour, Chris Wilson has only earned $33,360. He has only made the cut in three of those events. My guess is after travel expenses he may only have half of those earnings left over. Of course there are equipment endorsements, clothes endorsements, and other income so I am sure he not living in poverty. But it actually puts in perspective for every Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson earning tens of millions of dollars per year there are a many people who earn less than $100,000 per year.
Chris Wilson’s Rookie Diary is great though. From having to buy beers for Rich Beem to tracking his position to get into a tournament it really gives a great look from a tour insider. You don’t see too many of these types of accounts out there. I definitely recommend everyone check it out.
