If you didn’t know, there is a PGA Tour event going on down in Cancun, Mexico. The Mayakoba Golf Classic plays second this week to the WGC Accenture Match Play Championship but is no less important than any other PGA Tour event on the schedule throughout the year. As any pro golfer out there will tell you winning on tour is still tough no matter where you are.
So my congratulations go out to Cameron Beckman for winning this weeks Mayakoba Golf Classic. Beckman is a fellow San Antonio resident and this gives him his third PGA Tour victory. And the cool thing is Beckmans golf coach, Joe Caruso, has a golf academy right up the road from where I live in San Antonio and I work on my game there. So maybe congrats will be in the works if I ever see Beckman out there.
His 4 under 67 in the final round was good enough to outlast Brian Stuard and Joe Durant.
