With the first official post of Front9Back9.com, what’s better than starting with the most popular news story circulating right now, and a question I have seen discussed by numerous sports writers across the United States. Does Tiger Woods owe the public an explanation for what happened last Friday? I have seen many different versions of this answer and frankly my opinion is..NO. He DOES NOT owe me, or anyone else an explanation. Heck, by Florida law, he doesn’t even owe the police an explanation. The only person he owes an explanation to is his wife, Elin. And that explanation has nothing to do with a fire hydrant or tree. That explanation has to do with his alleged mistress Rachel Uchitel, and now reports have surfaced of another woman who supposedly has actual “evidence” of an affair.
If Tiger Woods does not want to say anything that is his right. I could respect that and I understand that. The problem I foresee is more and more people coming forward like this woman from Las Vegas stating they had affairs with Tiger Woods. And now the police are now pissed they were stonewalled three times by Tiger and they could end up possibly digging deeper and subpoena medical records and blood samples and hospital surveillance video. The police are never going to get the surveillance videos from Tigers home security system. But they could get the hospital ones when he was brought in via the ambulance that night.
I predict this whole “Tiger-Gate” thing is going to go one of two ways:
First, Tiger is just another adulterous athlete and will have to spend millions and millions of dollars to by a ring just the way Kobe Bryant did when he cheated in Colorado. Then Tiger and Elin will move on and live happy lives since there is no way she can leave since I am sure there is an iron clad pre-nup in place and she gets nothing if she leaves. Tiger will go on and win his 20 or more majors and Elin will be there on the 18th green at Augusta to hug and kiss him when he breaks the all time major record. Tiger won’t lose sponsors over this. Kobe Bryant lost his sponsors because of the alleged rape that took place. The sponsors are now back for Kobe after legal process worked itself out in that instance.
The second way this could go is Tiger will sue the crap out of anyone and everyone who ever said he had an affair. He could sue any website for defamation and libel for publishing things that are completely false. And Tiger has no problems suing people. He sued the boat company who built his yahght when they used his pictures in promotional material without his consent and. He then sued the crap out of the newspapers in Europe who published fake photos of his wife naked during the 2006 Ryder Cup.
The worst case scenario for Tiger Woods is the Florida Highway Patrol getting hold of any blood samples and that blood coming back with alcohol or the alleged pain killers and they charge him with a DUI. This is a big stretch though and would take a longer investigation by not only the police but the Orlando area DA to see if there is enough evidence.
Tiger Woods, now with the help from high profile attorneys, is just doing what he has always done…stay quiet on anything other than golf. He owes the public nothing. The only person he better be smoozing right now is the person he calls his wife. It is not looking good on the home front for Tiger Woods right now.
